Pullerits: Kogu tõde suhetest Alaveriga
Mu tänane kolumn "Müügimehe muinasjutt" Tartu Postimehes tekitab ilmselt arvamuse, nagu oleks mina Mati Alaveri ja Mati Alaver minu vaenlane. Ma ei tea, kuidas suhtub Alaver minusse, aga enda kohta võin käsi südamel kinnitada, et tema minu vaenlane küll pole. (Kolumni leiab aadressil: http://www.postimees.ee/071207/tartu_postimees/sport/300045.php)Samas möönan, et ilmselt ei tundu see ainult Alaverile nii, vaid ka paljudele teistele, nagu oleks mul temaga mingi kana kitkuda ja justkui prooviks ma talle pidevalt n-ö ära teha. See tuleneb sellest, et olen tema ja suusakoondise kohta läbi aastate kriitiliselt sõna võtnud. Aga eksiarvamus minu olematu pahatahtlikkuse kohta tuleneb omakorda sellest, et ei mõisteta meedia rolli, funktsiooni ja ülesandeid.
Kui mu treener ei oleks Kalmer Tramm, kes on mind nii meeletult palju omakasupüüdmatult aidanud - sest mis kasu ta minusuguse harrastaja treenimisest ikka saab -, peaksin siinkohal kuulutama, et mu lemmiktreener on Mati Alaver. Miks tema?
Sest ta on nii kuradima tark, ja tarkust ma hindan. Ta on mulle näidanud kord om
a kladesid, kuhu on igasugust tarkust talletatud. Tema kohta on teadjad mehed rääkinud, kuidas ta juba tudengina kõik teaduslikud suusaraamatud, mis Eestis saada olid, läbi luges. Ja ega muidu temast üksnes Eestis, vaid ka laias maailmas lugu peetaks.Sest ta on nõudlik, maksimalist, ja selles tunnen paljus ära ennastki. Nii nagu tema on ajanud teinekord lausa halastamatult pilli lõhki, nii olen enda arust seda isegi teinud. Kui mu omaaegsed tudengid vaevuksid kirjutama minu karmide õpetamismeetodite kohta, lendaks seal lugudes ilmselt sama palju laaste, nagu ilmselt Alaveri käe alt on lennanud. (Tõsi, viimasel ajal pidid tudengid mind juba liigses leebuses süüdistama, teadis üks kolleeg vahendada.) Ehk teisisõnu: mulle tundub, et oleme natuurilt üksjagu sarnased.
Edasi: mulle meeldib Alaveri rääkimisstiil. See on täpne, lakooniline, läbimõeldud, kiire reageerimisega. Ja tema iroonia - see on nii mõnusalt lõikav! Veel hiljuti oli kombeks, et kui ajakirjanikud tema ette küsimusi esitama kogunesid, oli tal kombeks mind ja Gunnar Pressi minuti jagu iroonia abil paika panna. Ja uskuge mind, see, kuidas ta seda tegi, oli nii nauditav, et selle peale ei saanud isegi solvuda. Pigem tundsid end sellest paitatuna, ausõna - et pälvisid temasuguselt mehelt nii palju isiklikku tähelepanu.
Kaks korda olen siiski Alaveri peale solvunud. Üks kord pärast viimase Otepää MK-etapi lõppu pressitelgis, kus ta väitis, et ma vihkan murdmaas
uusatamist, ja viitas selle tõestuseks kuskilt kuuldule, nagu ma oleks öelnud, et saan Postimehes seda rohkem kiita, mida rohkem ma murdmaasuusatamist tümitan. Ei ole mina seda oma arust küll öelnud ja ei ole tema seda oma kõrvaga ka kuulnud. Igatahes on see totaalne vale. Keegi ei ole mind suusatamise kritiseerimise pärast ekstrakiitnud. Sellega ma kuskil plusspunkte küll pole teeninud.Ja täiesti absurdne on mind süüdistada murdmaasuusatamise vihkamises. Kuidas see vihkamine loogiline saaks olla, kui lähen hea meelega kajastama suusatamise üritusi ja võistlusi (ma ei ole ei tea mitu aasta[kümme]t käinud kajastamas korvpalli, jalgpalli, kergejõustikut, teistest aladest rääkimata) - ja seda sageli isegi nädalavahetuste arvelt. Kuidas see vihkamine saab olla loogiline, kui ma ise tegelen juba teist aastat poolprofessionaalselt murdmaasuusatamisega (poolprofessionaalselt seepärast, et mu treener Kalmer Tramm on, erinevalt minust, professionaal).
Teine kord solvusin pärast viimase Saku Suverulli lõppu, kui Alaver heast peast minuga kärkima hakkas, et ta ei saa aru, miks ta minusuguse mehega üldse räägib - sest mina olen see, kes on päevast päeva (sic!) kirjutanud sellest, et suusatamist tabab fiasko, kuna noortetööks pole piisavalt raha eraldatud. Esiteks, olin sellest viimati kirjutanud oi kui kaua tagasi, ja teiseks jahmatas mind see, kuidas ta nii ootamatult, justkui täiesti lambist, nagu öeldakse, selle vana asja järsku ette võttis, ja kolmandaks see, et ta tõesti lausa kärkis. Aga millega siis ikkagi seletada, et olen suusatajaid alalõpmata kritiseerinud?
Kui literatuurselt vastata, siis nagu venelased ütlevad: kui peksab, siis järelikult armastab. Ja siin on tõsi sees. Suusatamine huvitab mind - ega ma muidu siin sel teemal blogi peaks; võiks ju pidada malest, vehklemisest, ujumisest (teemasid on igal alal tuhandeid). Suusatamise käekäik läheb mulle korda. Elan Alaveri ja tema meeste tegemistele kaasa, olen rõõmus ja õnnelik, kui nad võidavad, ja olen nördinud, kurb, pettunud, kui tulemusi ei tule.
Ent ma ei ole mingi suusaliidu PR-tegelinski, kes peab hädad ja nurjumised olematuks rääkima. Ma olen ajakirjanik, ja kõik mu õppejõud, alates kadunud prof Juhan Peeglist ja lõpetades prof Marju Lauristiniga, on õpetanud, et ajakirjanik peab olema aus, peab olema julge, peab söandama nii kiita kui kritiseerida, ei tohi tõsiasju peita, varjata, musta valgeks rääkida. Enne Torino olümpiat, kus Alaver seadis eesmärgiks Eesti meeste kaksikvõidu, ütlesin, et kui see õnnestub, olen esimene mees, kes teda taevani kiidab, aga kui selle asemel peaks tulema esimene ja kolmas koht, olen esimene mees, kes arvustab, et püstitatud eesmärk jäi täitmata. (Tulid 1. ja 5. koht ning kriitika jäi avaldamata, kuigi põhjust ju oli - kas selle juhuse jätaks kasutamata Alaveri vaenlane?)
Ma ei ürita siin kedagi iga hinna eest veenda, et tegelikult on Alaver parim ja minust on valesti aru saadud. Igaühele jäägu õigus uskuda, mida ta tahab. Rääkisin siin lihtsalt ülimalt ausalt, milline on minu positsioon, et kes tahtis lugeda ja kaasa mõelda, sai ehk mõtlemisainet.
Nõnda saan ka edasise suhtes lubada vaid ühte: senikaua, kuni suusatamine mind veel paelub ja kuni ma suusatajaile kaasa elan, kirjutan ka edaspidi neist, ja püüan anda endast maksimumi, nagu Alaver annab omas töös maksimumi. Kuid ma ei taha, et ta seda kõike liiga tõsiselt ja eriti just südamesse võtab - ehkki tean, et ilmselt võtab, sest seda märkis kord tema ühe puudusena hiljuti surnud Tartu Ülikooli kehakultuuriõppejõud prof Atko Viru.
Aga tegelikult on see kõik kokku üks meelelahutus. Alaveri suusatiim lahutab meie kui spordisõprade meelt, mina püüan lahutada lugejate meelt. Ühine on see, et me mõlemad püüame oma tööd teha võimalikult hästi. Vahe on ainult see, nagu ma kord Alaverile mainisin, et tema on omal alal maailma paremaid, mina omas vallas alles umbkaudu 160 000.

Nagu paljudes kohtades mujal, nii ka sel lehel ütleb Harry Lemberg (Autorität nr Einz) selgelt: "Südame löögisageduse lihtsaks ja täpsemaks mõõtmiseks oleks otstarbekas kasutada pulsimõõtureid."
Artikkel ise on aga särav shedöövr (spordi)ajakirjanduses, napp ja intellektuaalne. Retsept!
Noh, eks see artikkel on õige, kuigi pisut nihilistlik. Tõsi, et suusatamises pole sel-eelmisel hooajal olnud maailma taseme tulemusi. Aga see ei tähenda, et sponsorid annavad raha ainult Otepää telgi ja Slaveri moosimise pärast.
- suusatamine on meil ikkagi maailma tasemel baasiga ala. Mis tähendab et sealt on tõenäolisem, et tõusevad ka maailmatasemel suustajad. Rootsil oli ka pärast Svani-Mogreni põlvkonda suht pikk auk tipptulemustes, aga see ei tähendanud, et püss oleks kohe põõsasse visatud.
- suusatamine on Eestis suure publikuhuvi ja harrastajate arvuga ala, mistõttu on selle toetamine loogiline, sest läbi selle jälgijate saavad sponsorid ka rohkem kajastust.
- Kuhu see raha siis suusatamise asemel panna? Peale heitjate (kettamehed, Värnik möödnustega) polegi meil ju telealadel (ja suusatamine on küll teleala, oluliselt rohkem kui vehklemine või sõudmine) maailma tasemel tegijaid.
Ehk siis mina ütlen, et suusatamise toetamine on Eestis täiesti ratsionaalne sponsorite poolt ja Alaveri põhjendused on ka mõistlikud, mitte mingi udupeen PRmanipulatsioon.
Telealad on:
Jalgpall, korvpall, rattasport, snooker, pokker, motosport, jne jne
Suusatamine on tegelikult väga igav teleala mille jälgimiseks, peab koguaeg paberi ja pliiatsiga paberisporti või nende puudumisel mälusporti harrastama. Vaatemängulisust on siin väga vähe.

See oli juba siis selge, kui meie mehed korraga poodiumi vallutasid, et tegemist on ajutise anomaaliaga, mis lähiaastatel ei saa korduda, nii nagu Eurovisiooni võitminegi. See, et see kõik juhtus ei tähenda, et see peaks uuesti korduma lähitulevikus. Pigem tuleb Asmer F1-s ennem korra poodiumile, kui suusatamises kolmikvõit Eestisse.
Suusatamine on nn eesti-teleala vaid seni kui meie mehed tulevad punktikohtadele. Kui seda ka ei juhtu, siis pole tal suuremat väärtust meie vaatajate jaoks kui mõni Hollandi velotuur.
Kui on ikka ilusal suusailmal valida, kas minna suusatama või istuda tv taha tugitooli siis eelmisel ja ka sellel hooajal polnud (ja pole) põhjust tugitooli eelistada.
Pullerits ei jäta kedagi niisama ükskõikseks, sest ta keeb üle. Kas keegi siis saab ülekeevat ja tossavat anumat ükskõikselt vaadata. Ei saa ! Eriti torkab tema ülevahutamine silma kui loed mitmeid tema lugusid järjest. Omal ajal iseloomustas keeleinimene Helju Vals legendaarse Toomas Uba tormakate ülekannete juhtumit kui verbaalset kõhulahtisust. Üsna kõvasti kisub selle diagnoosi raamesse ka Pulleritsu elektrooniline jutuvada.

Aga teist PP sarnast Eestis pole, sest enamust justkui kirjutajatest valitseb mingi toimetuse joon , sulemehe enese ülim tarkus või niisama omaette nohisemine.

Suusaaladest on minu arust murdmaad kõige mõttetum TV sse toppida. Minul on isegi siis raske sealt midagi huvitavat leida, kui omad on tipus, aga näiteks suusahüppamises meil omi ei ole, aga huvitavam tundub ikkagi.

Suusahooaeg lõppeb meil ju teatavasti kevadel. Seega on minu arvates on natuke vara tibusid lugeda. Tegemist oli siiski hooaja mitte kahe järgneva MK-etapi eesmärkidega. Ma ootaks pigem kevadel selliseid kirjutisi kui on selge kui hästi said eesmärgid täidetud.
